Classifying Living Things.  (2005). Brandon, Vt.: Visual Learning Co.  One 15 minute videocassette.  Discusses the importance of classifying living things, and some of the criteria scientist use when classifying. The six major kingdoms are explored including Eubacteria, Archaebacteria, Protists, Fungi, Plants, and Animals. Illustrates the important characteristics of living things in each of the kingdoms. Science Units for Grades 9 – 12 Eugene, OR: International Society for Technology in Education.  Incorporates the National Educational Technology Standards for Students into science unit plans.  Appropriate for grades 9-12.  (WC RESA Circulating Collection: Q183.3.A1.S377).

 

Your Science Fair Project. (2005).  One 15 minute videocassette.  Concepts and important terminology discussed in this video include: scientific method, science fair project, hypothesis, experiment, data, conclusion, data table, and graphing.  Appropriate for grades 5-9.  (WC RESA Duplication Collection Q182.Y68).

Elementary Video Adventures:  Weather and Climate.  (2005). Discovery School.  Take a close look at global warming to discover how humans affect the climate.  See how meteorologists use satellites and radar to predict the weather.  Appropriate for grades 3-5.  Includes teacher’s guide.

 

Elements of Chemistry: Carbon: The Element of Life. (2003) United Learning. This program focuses on the unusual properties of carbon and shows how it is able to combine with other elements to produce the vast number of organic compounds from hydrocarbons to the molecules in human tissue.  Appropriate for grades 9-12.  Includes blackline masters, teacher’s guide, and curriculum standards.

 

Jeff Corwin Experience: The Amazon: Aquatic Ecosystem.  (2005).  Discovery Channel School.  Follow Jeff to the most impressive river system in the world, the Amazon.  In Brazil, he encounters the exotic and beautiful creatures whose natural history can help to determine the health of the Amazon ecosystem.  Appropriate for grades 3-5.  Includes teacher’s guide and curriculum standards.
