Geography of Mexico and Central America

Chapters include the landscape of Mexico and Central America, living with natural hazards, Guatemala's coffee economy, and the disappearing forests of Panama. Mexico: Its People, History, and Government
Mexico's colorful history comes alive in this captivating presentation - from the Olmecs, Toltec, Mayan and Aztec ruins to the fall of Aztec ruler Montezuma II. Other historical events covered include the Spanish colonial period, Mexican independence from Spain to the Mexican-American War, political instability of the late 19th and 20th centuries, the domination of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and the democratization of Mexican society starting in the 1990s. Mexico's governmental structure is briefly covered and living patterns of Mexicans today-in both cities and rural areas-are shown. Closed captioned.
